More About Sally
“I believe that our work as parents is life-changing and world-changing. We are in the business of raising the children who will change the world.”
I’m Sally Prebble, PhD, child and adolescent communication educator, compassionate parenting coach, and co-founder of Peace Talks NZ.
I’m also a mother of three, so I practice everything I share, and I share everything I practice.
For over a decade, I’ve helped overwhelmed parents who are tired of yelling, guilt, and power struggles to create calmer homes and deeper, more loving connections with their children.
Prior to this, I spent my time learning, researching, writing, and teaching about child psychology, communication, and human relationships. I now integrate all of my learning and experience into supporting parents to be able to offer their children the love and connection they need to thrive.
I work with parents around the world, one-on-oneand through online courses and programmes. I also share free resources and short training on my YouTube channel and in articles/blogs as I want to make these resources widely accessible.
My approach blends theory, science, lived experience, warmth, and a lot of heart.
If you’re ready to stop yelling and start parenting with confidence, warmth, and connection, please reach out. I would love to support you on your journey. 💛
My parenting story
When I began my own parenting journey, I felt pretty confident. I had an honours degree in psychology, a postgraduate diploma in clinical psychology, and was completing a PhD focused on neuroscience. I had read a lot of books on parenting theory and child development, and was even teaching parenting courses.
But let’s be honest: parenting can be really hard sometimes, right?
I had high hopes and beautiful dreams, imagining years filled with warmth, laughter, and delicious moments of playdough-scented togetherness with my children.
Instead, I found myself exhausted and alone.
The day-to-day challenges, including supporting my children through neurodiversity and mental health struggles, helped me to realise that no amount of theory can truly prepare us for the emotional complexity of parenting. I began to understand just how difficult and isolating modern parenting can be...and I wanted to know why.
I became fascinated with this problem: Why are we all struggling? What is going so wrong for so many parents and families?
What I have come to see through my research and working with so many parents and families is that there is a pattern to the chaos; a vicious, self-perpetuating cycle that keeps many families stuck.
Sadly, we live in a world that often works against that kind of deep, sustaining connection.
This realisation reshaped both my work and my family life. I am committed to learning and sharing everything I can about the art and science of creating deep and nurturing connection with our children.
Thanks to my children’s ongoing patient tuition, I’ve gained a wealth of lived experience in what it means to live and breathe connection with children. This path isn't always an easy one, but it has transformed my life and deepened my desire to support other loving, but overwhelmed, parents.
My mission is to offer practical, compassionate support to parents navigating the emotional terrain of raising children in today’s complex world.
I share everything I know, the research, the tools, the skills, and the practical lessons I’ve learned (often the hard way). My hope is to help you move from stress and disconnection into greater peace, confidence, and ease with your children.
